Background

United Truck And Trailer Drivers Welfare Association (UTTDWA) formerly known as Nigeria Trailer And Truck Drivers Association (NTTDA) caters for the welfare of truckers across the states of Nigeria. The association was founded by Godfrey Omohfomhan (CDR) who is also the The President of the association. He hails from Edo state Nigeria. He came up with the vision of uniting all truck and trailer drivers across the 36 States of Nigeria including FCT, and by extension, to our neighboring countries. To achieve this, on December 16th, 2023, he called on some of his friends, who are now also the co-founders of the association to create a foundation online platform, on that same day, over 300 members were converted and added to the the platform, few months later, the association members rosed from 300 to 2,650 as a result of the passion the truck and trailer drivers has for the association. With this, state, Chairmen and executives members platforms were created to regulate the house. With the association objectives which is

  • To ensure all our members are free from harassment and extortion by illegal task agencies.
  • To ensure all our members are free from unlawful detentions.
  • To protect all our members from unwarranted termination of employment.
  • To assist any of our members who are in hard terms
  • To discourage all our members from misappropriation of company assets in their custody
  • To raise awareness of the importance of truck and trailer drivers in the country
  • To re-write our names from “common drivers” to delivery officers (D.Os.)
  • To ensure only properly qualified, capable and lawfully licensed drivers move trucks and trailers on Nigerian roads,and for the safety of Nigerians in general.
  • To improve the welfare of all our members across the Nation

The association spreads very fast to 26 states within the period of 6 months,with 21 functioning state Chairmen and its executive members to function the state, and coordinators where assigned to the other 6. The association has its rules and regulations, one of them is, for you to be a registered member, you must be a truck or trailer driver, (6 tires heavy duty trucks, off-road trucks and trailer of 14 tires and above). The association has nothing to do with religions, politics and tribes.

On November 07 2024, the association was fully registered under Corporate Affair Commission (CAC) with the name United Truck And Trailer Drivers Welfare Association, under incorporated trustees,the registration which has to do with non-profit bodies like Associations / Organizations. The association Motto remains “Unity And Progress”, as this is what take us this far, our slogan remains “Injury To One…Is Injury To All “. On this, the welfare of the association stands.
